You can almost smell it.

There’s (almost) always something special baking around here — the kind of thing that draws people into the kitchen and invites them to linger just a little longer.

I’m Susan — wife, mom of five, gramma of many, and the home baker behind Our Bakery. This little micro bakery is one expression of Brooks & Meadow, our family’s shared creative umbrella rooted in home, faith, food, and making things with intention.

What began as a few loaves baked for family and friends slowly and naturally grew into something more — not because I set out to build a business, but because feeding people has always been one of the ways I love them best.

Our Bakery is a small, seasonal micro bakery focused on scratch-made baked goods, shared in limited batches and always with care. We bake when the season — and our family rhythms — allow. Porch pick-ups are offered occasionally and by pre-order only, a structure that lets us share what we love without turning it into something rushed or overwhelming. This bakery exists to support home life, not replace it.

Much of the baking you see here is done alongside my daughter Rachel, my steady kitchen side-kick. We’ve developed an easy rhythm together — moving around the kitchen like a well-oiled machine. Rachel brings creativity, precision, and a wonderful sense of fun to everything she makes. Her cookies and sweet treats are often the first to sell out. If you have a sweet tooth, chances are you’ll love whatever she’s working on next.

I believe in good food, slower days, and the sacred simplicity of breaking bread with people you love. I believe the table is a place of connection, comfort, and belonging. And I believe there is beauty in doing things a little more gently — even in the kitchen.

From time to time, other Brooks & Meadow family makers may contribute as well — from handmade teas and cottage-approved goods to behind-the-scenes help that makes it all run smoothly. Everything offered through Our Bakery is rooted in the same foundation of faith, family, and community, and centers around the table — shared food, shared time, and everyday connection.

When we’re baking, menus are shared here on the blog and on social media. You’ll also find an evolving look at the baked goods we offer — some familiar favorites, some seasonal experiments, and always something made with heart.
